JOHN HUGHES + STAR WARS = HUGHES THE FORCE FAN FILM
This fan film from Absolute Value Pictures mixes two movie universes that I love: the films of John Hughes and Star Wars. Trust me, take 35 minutes to watch this great fan film and enjoy an incredible nerdy mashup.
35 YEARS AGO TODAY…
Star Wars (A New Hope) was released in theaters for the first time.
It went on to become the highest-grossing film of all time (up to that point). Adjusted for inflation, it comes in at number 3 in the list of highest-grossing films ever made right behind Avatar (2009) and Gone With The Wind (1939). If you were to include toy/merchandise sales into the mix, it would take the top spot by a very wide margin. It isn’t all just about making money. It currently averages an 8.8/10 on IMDB which places it at #17 all time as voted by users.

CUSTOM CARBONITE FIGURES
Guests attending Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World this year will have a chance to be captured by Darth Vader, frozen in carbonite, and mounted inside Jabba the Hutt’s lair – or at least a notch or two short of that.
The iconic moment in which Han Solo undergoes carbon freezing in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back is being duplicated as part of Disney Parks’ new Carbon-Freeze Me experience, developed specifically for the annual Star Wars event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, beginning May 18, 2012.
Guests at Star Wars Weekends this year will be given the opportunity to step into a “Carbon Freezing Chamber,” located near The American Idol Experience in the theme park, and have their faces 3-D scanned using multiple cameras to create a 8-inch figurine depicting themselves frozen in carbonite. It also comes with a light-up wristband.
The custom figure will run you about $100 and is a steal in my book. I just wished I lived closer to Walt Disney World.
THIS IS THE LUNCH BAG I WAS LOOKING FOR
My wife got tired of me using plastic bags when I took my lunch to work so she decided to make me a bag that would inspire me to give up plastic forever. It totally worked, and the best part is that the bag is reversible!
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU
I recently went on a coastal vacation with my family and came across these in a trading card vending machine at a pop culture diner/cafe in Seaside,OR. Best $2 spent ever, especially for the R2D2 card! I decided to post pictures of these vintage beauties to celebrate May the 4th.
